ANNUAL “TIP-A-RIV” DINNER TO BE HELD FEB. 8 AT LARIAT STEAKHOUSE

Rivermen players serve prime rib to raise money for the Angel of Hope Project
The Peoria Rivermen have announced that their third annual “Tip-A-Riv” Dinner will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at Lariat Steakhouse in Peoria. The Rivermen players will be transformed into the wait staff for the evening and all tips generated, as well as proceeds from the auctions and other events throughout the night, will be donated to the Angel of Hope Project.

The event will begin with a cocktail hour at 6 p.m. with attendees and players mingling and bidding on silent auction items. At 7 p.m. dinner will be served by the players and a live auction will follow.
Dinner will include Caesar salad, prime rib (or salmon), vegetables, baked potato (or wild rice) and turtle cheesecake. After dinner and the close of the silent auction at 8 p.m. there will be a live auction and karaoke with the Rivermen players.

Tickets for this fun-filled evening are going fast and are limited. They are on sale now for $60 per seat or $400 for a table of eight. Tickets can be purchased at the sales table on the Carver Arena concourse during Rivermen home games or by calling Katie Kerr at (309) 680-3791.

The inaugural “Tip-A-Riv” Dinner was held on March 2, 2009 and raised $5,478 for the Children’s Hospital of Illinois. Last year’s event was held on March 16, 2011 and generated $6,000 to benefit “Cherish Every Moment – The Dax Locke Foundation.

Angels of Hope is a non-profit organization that raises money to construct statues around the country to serve as a beacon of hope for those suffering from the emotional and physical absence of a child. Each Angel of Hope statue costs approximately $14,500 and the hope is to raise enough money to have one placed in Peoria.

If the amount of the tips are based on their respective +/-'s, the whole night will be for naught.

But seriously, that's definitely a very cool thing they do, and it looks like they've chosen some great charities so far.
