I met Salei the summer after he was drafted by the Ducks. Great kid, unbelievable work ethic and attitude. This is a terrible tragedy. A sad summer for hockey indeed.

Is it wrong that I find it annoying that the CNN article on this says that Demitra played for the Wild and Canucks? He played 2 seasons each for the Wild and Canucks and 8 with the Blues. He was a shadow of his former self on those clubs anyway.

Meh. It's a stupid thing. This news is very upsetting.

Apparently he had two children. Horrible.

In his first full NHL season, 1997-98, the player drafted 227th overall in 1993 scored 22 goals and had 52 points for the Blues. Demitra would then lead the Blues in points in four of the next six seasons, including a career-high 93 points in 2002-03.

"I thought he was always one of our highest-skilled players on our team," former Blues general manager Larry Pleau said today. "He grew up here. I think he really matured and grew up here. Became a better person and a better player. Married, children ... you see these things happen, and he was part of your life. It's shame when you think about the family and his wife and the kids."

Is it that hard to get details like this right? This is an obituary of sorts...they need to get the easy facts right in honor of those that they are writing about that died.

Annoying and unprofessional that they can be so sloppy on something like that.
