Bishop the Conkblocker (Conklin Waived)
Pierre LeBrun of ESPN reports the Blues have placed Ty Conklin on waivers.
So I guess Army can't get anything for him, and the Blues are pleased enough by Bishop's play that he'll stay with the Blues this year. Cool!

Re: Bishop the Conkblocker
I've been saying all along, if the Blues won't play Conklin when Halak is out, why would any other team want to have him?
Oh, and ++ on the title.

Also, DJ King was placed on waivers, according to Bob Mckenzie. Cut Cam, bring the heavyweight back!

Re: Bishop the Conkblocker
Ummm... no. At least Cam is actually capable of being on the ice. King has played a total of 6 games in 2011 and only 14 on the entire season. Still would rather see skill than Cam, but King sure as shit ain't it.dmiles2186 wrote:WHOO!

They said on VS that Detroit had some interest in Conks before he pitched that shutout. I wonder if being pulled the next night killed that deal.

I was partially kidding. I could give or take DJ. There were a lot of folks on here upset that DJ was traded last year; it was kind of comical. Now he's getting sent through waivers. Just funny is all.theohall wrote:Ummm... no. At least Cam is actually capable of being on the ice. King has played a total of 6 games in 2011 and only 14 on the entire season. I was upset that they kept Cam over King. Both are marginal hockey players, but King destroys people when he fights...Cam, not so much.
To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.

Probably. On Monday (I think) Armstrong said that Halak was 7-10 days from returning. That would put it at Monday to Thursday sometime, unless he comes back early.drwoland wrote:Does this mean Halak is back?..

Re: Bishop the Conkblocker
"Bishop will be the Blues' starter on Sunday. Although Conklin is on waivers, he is eligible to be the club's backup while he awaits his fate."
Lol, if that's the case, and Conklin hypothetically does play, then what would motivate Conklin to try to win a game? Say he's playing goal for us whilst awaiting his waivers fate; what's stopping him from trying to lose on purpose just to piss off the organization that ditched him? He has nothing to lose!
How would the conversation go? Armstrong to Conklin: "Yes Conklin, we placed you on waivers because you basically suck. But we still want you to be our backup goaltender until Halak comes back, so do your best, ok? Thanks.

Motivation is getting signed in the offseason. Pull a stunt like that, and gg career, at least for him. I also imagine he understands the business of the NHL and won't hold a grudge.xbleed83bluex wrote:"Bishop will be the Blues' starter on Sunday.
