I'm a little disappointed in what we got in return too, but I'm ~happy with it nonetheless. Even though I haven't liked Cole's play very much this year, I would prefer him and cap space over Brewer at 4.5-5/year. They have to be willing to spend money though or this becomes pointless. Even if you hate Brewer, I think it's clear that his current ability is better than Cole's current ability (and most likely will be next year too). So, the main benefit to this is getting rid of his contract. But, that's only good if we spend the money wisely.

I like Kerbs and all, but he can stop doing the Brewer spin now.

One Player's reaction to brewer trade was "I thought he was our best defenseman all year and he was a GREAT captain. The Best captain."

Conklin is next. Probably can't hope to get much more than a 3rd for him as well. Hopefully Halak's injury doesn't complicate trading him.
