with JD.
Q 1: What were you thinking when you attempted to trade valuable assets for Kovulchuk?
Possible answers:
1 I thought we could resign him long term and 50 goal scorers are hard to come by.
Follow up Q: Did you not read the paper and see what he turned down in Atlanta?
You thought you could sign him then but no way now?
2 We thought he was the 1 guy this team needed to make a long run in the playoffs,
so mortgaging the future would be worth breaking the promise to stay the course
with an expensive rental.
Follow up Q: If you thought he was that guy, what kind of message does it send
your fans that you won't pursue the messiah now?
3 I really didn't pursue him. I just said that to help give false hope and sell a few
extra season tix before July 1.
I'll bet that no one who actually has the access to really interview JD has the balls to ask this.

I even said that when LEEEEEERY was GM. JD has his hands way too far into the organ-I-zation. Yes, he is President, but it almost seems like he is trying to run the GM and coaching jobs a little much.
In Neil Armstrong I trust... and his brother Doug.

I think that's the point though. We have a new GM now, than when we supposedly tried trading for Kovy last season. It isn't outrageous to think that with the new GM came a new way of thinking and Armstrong doesn't see Kovy fitting in the same as Pleau and JD did. Hopefully this is a sign that JD is letting Armstrong run the team how he wants and I think that is probably a good thing, especially with Armstrong having his boy here now in Dave Taylor.
