Re: Blues trade Warsofsky to BOS for Sobotka
I like this move. He'll be a good role player on the 4th line with a chance to develop into a shut-down/PK player. He had a pretty good playoff this year with the Bruins. He has some skill as shown in the AHL.
Warsofsky is small (5'8") and there are about 5 dman prospects ahead of him.

To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.

I'm sure that at some point, we will look back on this day and rejoice that the Warsofsky area has come to a close.

Nice trade. Sobotka can throw his weight arount a bit and will be a decent 3rd liner for us. At least he has a bit of skill as opposed to our usual grinders.

Did Warsofsky have an area or era? Not real clear on your meaning here.fargoblues wrote:I'm sure that at some point, we will look back on this day and rejoice that the Warsofsky area has come to a close.

I have to admit that I'm not all that familiar with either of these guys but after reading the reactions on that hfboards thread it sounds like the Blues might have made another good move here. A tough guy who can actually score points sometimes!

Like stated earlier, the real message here is bye bye Crombeen and Winchester...ViPeRx007 wrote:I have to admit that I'm not all that familiar with either of these guys but after reading the reactions on that hfboards thread it sounds like the Blues might have made another good move here. Sobotka is not a bad player; with Crombeen and Winchester, and throw in possibly King and Janssen (who are yet to accept qualifying offers), Sobotka may possibly be a top third - fourth liner for us.

I noticed that as well. I was reading several threads from different teams & the general consensus is to stop trading with the Blues.glen a richter wrote:The bruins fans seem thoroughly pissed.

I'm wondering if all these minor maneuvers are leading up to something gigantic on July 1...

Seems like the Bruins always comes out ahead though. Bring back Wideman! I wonder if they would trade Brewer or Jackman for him...stlbluz wrote:I noticed that as well. Will you still be saying this when Boyes pots the cup clinching goal in 5 OT game 7 next season?philco_3 wrote:Seems like the Bruins always comes out ahead though. Bring back Wideman! Well we'd have to ask the Panthers now instead of the Bruins.philco_3 wrote:Seems like the Bruins always comes out ahead though. Bring back Wideman! Re: Blues trade Warsofsky to BOS for Sobotka
It was long ago, but the Panthers still traded us Mellanby for Dave Morisset and a 5th round pick that became Vince Belissimo.
Then there was the Mike Van Ryn merry-go-round. Why not Dennis Wideman?
edit: no relation to Alanis.

Re: Blues trade Warsofsky to BOS for Sobotka
This is a very good deal for us. Sobotka is actually a pretty skilled banger who could play a 3rd/4th line role and contribute at least Jay McClement level offense. He's not as good defensively as McClement (but not bad) but he is more chippy and physical. He's an agitator. He unfortunately was relegated to about 8 min/g on the Bruins 4th line because they had Savard/Krejci/Bergeron at center in front of him and didn't play their 4th line much because of their scoring woes. He's a cheap, young, solid bottom six forward that is a MAJOR upgrade over the Crombeens of the world.
Re: Blues trade Warsofsky to BOS for Sobotka
Here is a couple of example of what he can provide on the 3rd or 4th line for us on any given night. I love it!
