Eklund says the Blues are in on Spezza. Doubt they would pull it off. Perron and Jackman?

Blues select with 2nd round pick Sebastian Wannstrom
Swedish RW
GP: 35
G: 30
A: 27
Pts: 57
PIM: 55
Goon's type of player, perhaps.
Oh, however, he played 18 games in the Swedish Elite league, and had 0 points. Who knows if he even got ice time.

Trading Perron would be just devastating. It would be heartbreaking to let a guy develop with the pro team from day 1, and then send him away.Leedog wrote:Perron and Jackman?
By no means is Perron untouchable, but if a team asks for him, make them pick another piece.

JR's been saying the Blues wouldn't hesitate to trade Berglund in the right deal, so I gotta think it would be Berglund going the other way before Perron. At this point I wouldn't mind losing Berglund if we were gaining someone like Spezza who is still young and just what this team needs. I also hope that it is Brewer going, as well, whether than Jackman. Of course it might even take more than that, only time will tell.
Spezza is making like $7-7.5 mil I think, I'd rather get Kovalchuk signed at that price and not have to trade Berglund though. Of course that Marleau signing at $7mil per, really set the bar for what Kovalchuk is going to be willing to sign for. I think we will have to dump Brewer or Jackman's salary though to be able to make that signing.
I know this is the most exciting off-season I think we've had in a while and it doesn't seem like its quite over yet. I am really liking this new Armstrong area, so far.

Re: GDT: 2010 NHL Draft
They're going all out with forwards this year, I like it. He's 6'3'' only around 180 out of Minnesota high school, should be a pretty big centerman once he fills out that 6'3'' frame a little more.Winning Unlimited wrote:With the third round pick, 74th overall, the Blues select Gardiner

Four forwards...wow. Now it's time to get a defenseman, say Troy Rutkowski from the Portland Winterhawks.

Re: GDT: 2010 NHL Draft
Even Schwartz is looking better and better.
There's a video posted on TSN under the draft section on him, check it out, it's pretty good, seems like a decent kid.
Also this from stlouisblues.com
Them be some Sidney Crosby midget numbers. I know it's not much to go on, but any time you are beating records that were previously held by Lecavalier and Richards... I'm okay with that.

Schwartz has committed to playing at Colorado College for next season, joining his older brother, Rylan. Prior to joining Tri-City, he played with Notre Dame, a private school in Wilcox, Saskatchewan that has produced players such as Vincent Lecavalier, Rod Brind'Amour, Curtis Joseph and Wendel Clark. In 2007-08, Schwartz led the Midget AAA league and broke the scoring record held by Lecavalier and Brad Richards with 39 goals and 111 points (39 goals, 72 assists) in 44 games.

Add that with Tarasenko having Ove type #s & I'm liking this years draft picks, let alone the trades we're making too.WaukeeBlues wrote:Even Schwartz is looking better and better.

You seem a little skeptical..
I see Tarasenko coming over next season. I am not sure how all the buying him out of his KHL contact works, but we will see. Tarasenko really wants to come over here, really bad it seems like. His KHL contract is for 2 more seasons I believe, so it would be two seasons from now at the latest I would think, but everyone seems to think next year.

Re: GDT: 2010 NHL Draft
Isn't the KHL kind of an AHL hybrid in terms of the level of play? You could argue he's already had 2 years in Peoria. Even so I would guess he'd at least spend a little time down there to get accumulated to the North American style. I doubt it would be years though...at least I hope not.glen a richter wrote:To play in Peoria or in St. Louis?section319 wrote:glen a richter wrote:When will either of them be in the note? 2014?
