ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced Friday the club has signed forward Anthony Nigro (AN-thuh-nee, NIGH-groh).

Nigro, 20, has spent the majority of the past two seasons with the Ottawa 67’s of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) after joining the team during the 2008-09 season via trade from the Guelph Storm. In 2009-10, the Woodbridge, Ontario native played in 61 games and led the 67’s with 46 assists while netting 16 goals for a total 62 points including 49 penalty minutes.

In the post-season, the 6’0”, 187-pound forward made 12 appearances collecting six goals and seven assists for 13 points and 12 penalty minutes, tying for the team lead in points and assists.

In total, the left-shooting left-winger’s regular season OHL career with both the Guelph Storm and Ottawa 67’s has yielded 251 games and 196 points including 74 goals, 122 assists and 199 penalty minutes. His OHL career post-season numbers include 33 games played, 12 goals and 14 assists for 26 points and 25 penalty minutes.

Nigro was the Blues’ sixth round selection (155th overall) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.

Once A. Nigro is given a chance, it's beneficial for A. Nigro to take advantage of it, lest he be stereotyped as shiftless and lazy.

I fully expect to see A. Nigro compete for a roster spot.

Hopefully this pans out otherwise people may say the only reason Davidson signed him is because he's A. Nigro lover.

What's the difference between A. Nigro and a bunk-bed?

A bunk-bed can support 2 kids.

If A. Nigro works hard, he'll be able to support many kids. That is if the Atomic Dog doesn't keep A. Nigro down.

Do the Blues project success for A. Nigro because of the recent emergence of P.K. Subban in Montreal?
