Down the stretch we come

Post by cprice12 »

19 games left...
The Blues have won four in a row, they're playing good hockey and they're finally scoring goals... and they will definitely pull to within one point of the playoffs tonight with a win over Dallas since Detroit, Anaheim and Calgary all lost in regulation last night and they are all idle tonight.

Over the last 10 games of all of the teams fighting to get into that last playoff spot (Detroit, Anaheim, Dallas, Calgary, Minnesota and St. Louis)... the Blues are tied with Dallas for the best record, 6-3-1.
People always say at least one of the teams fighting to get in will get hot...and St. Louis is hot right now.

Personally, with the way the team is playing now and the way the rest of the teams around us are playing, I'm cautiously optimistic. I think their chances are as good as any of the other teams around us, especially if we win tonight.
Yeah, things could go south in a hurry but we could also nab 8th place in a hurry.

I dunno...I think the finish to the season will be an exciting one.

What...did you want a prediction?

Fine. The Blues will finish 7th.

I hope you guys finish 8th and set up a meeting with the Hawks in the first round. It won't be a repeat of 1993.

That's ok. We'll settle for a repeat of 2002 then.

If they play like they did tonight I'd try to convince them that every game they play from here on out is the biggest game of the season. They should be doing that anyway since it's not too far from the truth.

If you had read what I wrote on the home page article after the Phoenix victory, almost every game from here on out is "the biggest game of the season", solely because this team underachieved in the first half and are trying to dig out of a hole.

Exactly how huge Saturday's game will be depends on what Detroit does against Nashville on Friday...but either way, it's gonna be huge.

The Blues could be in 8th place as early as Saturday if we beat Colorado. So...biggest game of the season on Saturday? It's hard to argue that it isn't.
