Plenty of bars within blocks of the arena. Not sure on the cheap motel though. We stayed across the river when we were there as we didn't find anything very affordable downtown.

Don't look for cheap hotels downtown... but bars out the wazoo, and 99% of them with some damn good live entertainment... they got both kinds of music: country AND western!

Re: Trip to Nashville
I can offer a free tour of a railroad yard by the river.
It doesn't start until 2:30am or so.

There are no "cheap" hotels downtown within walking distance, but if you are willing to drive 15 minutes away, there more options. Comfort Inn is probably the most inexpensive one downtown. There are tons of restaurants and bars. Top picks: the Hilton Sportsgrille (unbeliveable Natchos-one platter can feed 4 people), Jack's Barbeque, Itchiban Sushi are all within 2 blocks of the arena.
Re: Trip to Nashville
Don't be cheap pay for a Hotel downtown. There are so many bars with-in walking distance that it is easy to get plowed...especially after we beat those silly-nanny's. Much cheaper than the alternative DWI. Just stay away from goon's favorite bar. I believe it's called the "Blue Oyster"...you will see a bunch of guys in leather, that doesn't mean it's a biker bar.
