Road Trip to St. Louis - A few questions about the city :)

Post by Leafaholic99 »

Hey everyone, I have a few questions about St. Louis that I am hoping you can help me out with. I am doing a road trip in February, to catch the Leafs and Blues game in St. Louis, a 29 hour drive one way :| lol, long, but worth it, road trips are fun. So here are my questions:

1) What are some resturants to check out in the city? Preferbly close to the arena.

2) Some sights to check out?

3) Which casino does Colaiacovo goto :D? lol

4) Where do the Blues enter the arena and around what time? same for Visiting teams?

5) The Leafs game Im cheering for the Leafs, but the next night Im cheering for the Blues against the Capitals, so I want to get a Colaiacovo jersey, does the store in the arena sell Colaiacovo 3rd Blues jerseys all ready made up? If so, rough cost on them?

6) For the Caps and Blues game, where would be a good area to sit, to get a good view of the action and be around some loud, but, good Blues fans? I got tickets for the Leafs game, but not the Caps and Blues game yet.

7) Any other suggestion you have for me, would be appreciated.

8) What hotel do the visiting teams stay in?

Thanks in advance once again, I appreciate any questions you can answer for me and suggestions you have. :D

Well, Colaiacovo, Steen and Boyes, I wouldn't mind meeting and getting their autographs, I have Colaiacovo's on a Leafs jersey when I met him in 2006 in Minnesota, I wouldn't mind getting his autograph on a Blues jersey. He is one of my favourite players.

4) no clue

5) no clue

6) no clue

7) The teams often go to the Complex, from what I hear

1) The Old Spaghetti Factory -- It's nicely priced, it's really good, and the atmosphere is pretty cool...and it's not that far from Scottrade Center.
Mike Shannon's -- Near Busch stadium. Sports themed, but classy. The food isn't cheap, but it's some of the best in town. Great atmosphere.
Charlie Gitto's Pasta House -- Not that close to downtown, but very good italian.
Caleco's -- Nice location, downtown...decent food.

2) The Arch...the museum under the arch...the zoo...the science center...leclede's landing & the riverfront (during the day)...

3) No idea.

4) No idea.

5) No idea. You can call Scottrade and find out somehow, I'm sure.

6) It doesn't matter where you sit. Not really a bad seat in the house. I prefer anywhere between the blue lines at any level though.

7) If you get to the game early, you can get a spot at Top Shelf where there are tables and a long counter and a concession stand right there so you can stand and eat while you watch the game. If you like standing that is.

8) No idea. I'm not an autograph hound.

That a great idea.

That way if he wears his Leafs jersey, Doc and I can throw crap at him and taunt him all game.

Now, if he buys a CC Third Jersey.......we'll show him the cooler in the parking garage.

I went in February a couple years back and froze my ass off.

We ate at Gitto's before the game. It was ok for a place calling themselves an Italian restaurant, but nothing like what we have here in NY. Since you're from Toronto, I assume you wouldn't know good Italian food if it hit you in the head, so you'd probably find it quite tasty.

4) They enter the garage on from 16th street and go down the ramp into the building to park. They usually arrive around 430ish but you will not get them to stop then if you want autographs you need to go there at the end of the game and get them when they leave. The visiting team takes a bus and does not stop for autographs.

5) They should have the jerseys made not sure on price

6) I personally think the best place to sit is around row Q on the plaza level that way you are above the glass and still close enough to get into the action so to speak.

The visitors usually stay at the Sheraton about a block down 14th street

Actually, I have never been to Toronto, I am from Northern Manitoba lol, abuot 18 hours north of St. Paul Minnesota. It's also -40 here on a regular basis, where I live in the winter, I doubt it gets that cold in St. Louis in the winter, could be wrong though lol

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions, I appreciate it, as well as my friend that is coming, she is a pretty big Ovechkin fan, so she would like to meet him again lol

 The Old Spaghetti Factory???? Did this guy say that he was 12 years old or something?

If you drive 29 hours to St. Louis and eat Italian food anywhere but The Hill, you might as well hit up a Fazolis on the way.

There's nothing wrong with the Spaghetti Factory...especially if he wants to stay downtown. It's good and it's cheap and the atmosphere is cool.
That spaghetti with Mizithra cheese and browned butter is killer.

Would I go there for my only meal in St. Louis? No. But if I'm going to be in town for three or four days, I'd definitely go there once to eat.

Spaghetti Factory... > x infinity...Fazoli's... not that there's anything wrong with Fazoli's.

For a good steak at a reasonable price, Tuckers in Soulard is hard to beat, and not too far away.
How is it this thread has gone this long and nary a mention of strip clubs?

BTW if you like wings and that type food there is a Hooters in the downtown area as well as a Showmees (quite similar, but I prefer) on Laclede's Landing.

Do you just make this crap up? There's a substantial Italian community/population in Toronto. Jesus, glen, Italian-Canadians make up like 10 percent of the population in the Toronto area. That's a huge amount.

Sorry to have offended you, Goon. We take pride in our Italian food here. Anywhere else seems dramatically inferior. But if Italian food made by 7th generation Italians is your thing, then by all means knock yourself out. I prefer to go to a meat store where the owner sounds like he just finished up at Ellis Island.

7th generation my ass. I'm only 2 generation Greek and all the Italians I know are the same. You can shove your NYC elitism right up your ass, malaka!!!!!!!

Hey goon, when I went over to Greece in July, I saw a guy sporting a Blues tattoo while at the Acropolis. You were the first one that came to mind. Wasn't you, was it?

Wasn't me.

Don't you have a Blues tattoo on one ass cheek, a tattoo of Mighty Mouse on the other?
