I like the idea of throwing a dead animal on the ice. I think Blues fans should start the tradition here but with an American Bald Eagle. It will piss off people who don't like the Blues (just like it pisses Curt off), plus the enviro/animal rightsfreaks will be livid.

On a macro scale, it will piss off pretty much every American who isn't a Blues fan. Perfect.

WIN/WIN/WIN/WIN

a dead kitten would work too
The octopus thing doesn't piss me off...I just think it's stupid. It's the folks who call it a great tradition, that is shouldn't be messed with and that it should be celebrated that piss me off....well, maybe it doesn't piss me off...just very annoying I guess.

People get lost in the whole tradition thing and forget what the hell they are doing.

They're chucking a dead animal carcass on the ice and some guy goes out & picks it up and twirls it in the air like a propeller, flinging dead octo-juice everywhere as he runs off the ice. That's beyond F'd up if you ask me.

It would like Cardinals fans throwing dead squirrels on the field during the playoffs this year to symbolize the faux-luck the squirrel brought us last year. Just dumb.

And Stuart dives grabbing hold of his head after Fisher touches him in the shoulder. Horrible penalty call against Fisher.

Holmstrom should be kicked out for goaltender interference there... and I understand how frustrating Pekker is..

D-etroit is D-one... and that's actually ashame because I think we could have handled them pretty easy if it came to that down the line. Nashville, much much tougher potential opponent. Rinne > Howard by a country light year

Not only is Detroit out, but they are first team to be eliminated from the playoffs.

Big surprise here... Penguins hold on to extend the series with Flyers, Nashville beats Detroit to advance. Which story gets the big picture main article on Yahoo sports? Hint: There's a touch of an eastern conference bias... as usual.

Suck it, Detroit!!!

Consider this scenario... Tonight is the first time in a long time that the wangs will be sitting at home watching the Blues in the playoffs. If that doesn't make you happy there's something wrong with you.

It is nice to know Detroit is making tee times and Lidstrom is probably retiring now, BUT... I think down the pike would could have beaten Detroit. I don't feel the same way about a potential St. Louis/Nashville matchup.

I'd rather play Detroit than Nashville too. But, barring Vancouver and Chicago both overcoming 3-1 deficits we won't play Nashville until the WCF. If we make it to round 3, we'll be playing really well and so will whoever we face.

No Eastern bias on NHL.com. #1 story is Nashville eliminating Detroit.

Datysuk should have been ejected from that game and serve a 2-game suspension just like #25 for the Blues had to do earlier this season.

Datsyuk hits Hornqvist from behind driving him head first into the boards with 8:26 remaining in the 1st period. No penalty. It was a blatant hit from behind. Datsyuk had him lined up and hit's him squarely in the back of the numbers knowingly driving him head first into the boards. It's alot like the hit for which the Blues #25 was suspended.

Wish I could post a video of it.

Anyway - the right team lost. :detsucks:
