Too bad. I like DJ and he was a true heavyweight. I'm sure his injuries had something to do with the decision.

Not a fan of Cam Cam at all. His 'hits' are like flies hitting a window. He may fight, but DJ brought fear.

The prospect doesn't seem bad...but it sounds like he's a couple years away if at all. Hopefully he's not a Mike Danton rerun.

To disagree, one doesn't have to be disagreeable.

Della Rovere is similar to Danton, in the fact that he can play the agitator role and also score a bit. He's got better hands than King, and some goal-scoring knack. He scored 27 goals and 51 points in his best junior year, and scored 6 points in 6 games in one of his World Junior Championship tournaments. King scored 12 goals in his best junior year, and virtually nothing in his pro seasons. King is a lot slower skater than Della Rovere, and would likely be a liability on defence (along with low scoring ability, why he doesn't play full 4th line minutes). Della Rovere would likely not be much of a liability on defence.

IF Della Rovere can become a lot more disciplined in picking his spots for hitting (and take less obvious cheap shots and needless penalties) he can become a regular shift 4th liner (agitator on energy line), and maybe a decent fill-in 3rd liner. That is, however, a BIG IF.

He can hold his own in a fight with middleweights on down. He could be NHL ready after 2 years in Peoria. If Cam isn't gone after this season, he will be when Della Rovere arrives.

Listening to John Kelly last night for some reason reminded me of this awesome post. This thread needs to be in the HOF just for this.
