Some people are saying the puck was kicked in, but I saw Hossa's stick touch the puck as it was sitting on the line. Just barely, but he tapped it. Still, NO GOAL because it was never over the line and O'Hallaran is an o'hack.
I don't believe his stick ever touched the puck. I believe it hit the post making it look he touched the puck.

You may be right. I didn't have the game in HD tonight, and Kerber's argument that a swinging stick would change the trajectory of the puck in some way is pretty solid. But still, it's a no goal on at least one of two accounts.

Roenick said it best, if anything would've even touched the puck at all the puck would have clearly gone in the net.

Worst possible result. A loss and a point? Are you kidding me?

And bitching about officiating is always lame but WTF was the deal with Hossas goal? Really? Mother****ing really? That's the worst ****ing call I've seen ever. It wasn't conclusively over the line and it was kicked in. Complete shit. I don't want to say that this shit is fixed, but give me a break? How can that be called a goal? Probably because they want there precious shithawks in the playoffs. Bullshit.

I wonder if the Hawks made some sort of deal with the Blues to put in the Ty "complete failure" Conklin in net for this one. Why? Why do that?
And then during the game you find out that Crawford is starting his 25th straight game...but Halak can't be bothered to start in back to back games for some reason.
This was a big game. It was important to the Hawks. All the more reason to start Halak.
I could maybe understand if he Halak had been overworked this year, but he was hurt for a while and missed a chunk of starts.
Halak should have been in net.

Read a funny tweet after the phantom Hossa goal...
"It's not just that they allowed a kicked in goal...It's that they reviewed it for 10 minutes and allowed a kicked in goal."

It's just a bullshit call. Plain and simple.
What I don't understand, is they explanation the ref gave when he announced the goal was good, was that the replay showed the puck had crossed the line.
What? It did? Not that I saw. And he didn't even mention the issue of the puck being kicked in.
I wish the NHL would make the refs explain shit better. The NFL does it right...the NHL refs half-ass it and leave people confused half of the time. Explain in semi-detail what the call was you asshats.

No way the ref actually saw the puck across the line live...the replay implied that the puck wasn't over the line, even though you couldn't actually see it. And then for the war room to allow a kicked in goal, when you can tell on the replay his stick didn't hit the puck. How does that happen? And it was pretty conclusive to the biased Hawk announcers...they didn't think his stick hit the puck either.

Which brings me to another gripe...

Why in the hell were the Hawks announcers doing a national VS game between the Hawks and Blues? They didn't hide their bias at all. VS should be embarrassed. They really lacked enthusiasm on the Blues goals, and jumped out of their shorts on the Hawks goals...and they were initially giddy with excitement when they saw that the video replay was inconclusive if the puck went over the line or not, meaning the call on the ice of a good goal was probably going to stand.
They should have been more middle of the road for a national broadcast.

And the kick in the teeth after the game was that it was mentioned that Hossa told his teammates at the bench that he didn't think it was a good goal...until they announced it as a good goal.

The NHL screwed the Blues, Flames and Stars big time last night.
What a joke.

Conks should be taken out back, beaten to within an inch of his life, tied up, locked in a trunk and forced to listen to a never ending loop of Darn Pang highlight calls with that 'Friday' sng playing in the background.

Conklin, talking about goal/Blackhawks: "They're probably going to make it in the playoffs anyway. Do we really just have to make it that obvious. They're going to get in anyway."

36 page thread on how crappy this call was on HF. 99% of the people agree that it was crap. The other 1% seem to be on the fence.

I don't have a link, but apparently Hossa himself didn't think it was a goal.

Pissed. Nothing better than playing the role of spoiler to the cup winners and didn't pull it off, though not entirely our fault :?

That last goal by Toews... Conklin played the angle so unbelievably poorly on that, I think a Junior A player would've buried it. Terrible.

I heard the same thing. On the bench while the goal was being reviewed, Hossa told Kopecky he didn't think it was a good goal.

I really like to see the league come out and make some kind of comment about that goal. I've always like the NHL for having reviews but this is just a joke. They really need to revise the rule that makes the on-ice call trump everything.

I don't have a big problem with the on-ice call trumping things... but in this case, it was obvious that he DID kick it in, it did NOT hit his stick, and it did NOT actually go over the line.

The evidence on the slow-mo clearly was in direct contradiction of the call on the ice. The evidence was there.

Not sure if you are reading his quote right. I think he's being sarcastic. This article seems to put that quote in a different way.

It appears you are correct.

I guess that's what happens when you cut and past a JR tweet. (Which by the way he has now gone back and made it a ling to a full article with the full quote instead of just the cut/paste tweet above)
