Definitely not the name I would have gone with but whatever. They better nickname their barn "The Krak House".

I like the color scheme and logo. Can’t wait for the first losing skid and the inevitable “Kraken Under the Pressure” headline.

Or devoted fans being the "Krak heads" or the arena being the "Krak house"?

Maybe I'll pre-order my #57 David Perron Kraken jersey. You know it's inevitable.

Meh.

They should have really messed with Vancouver and gone with the Orcas.

Or maybe the Goonies.

Wow, Mike Yeo destined to be an NHL coach again? Big words giving him far far too much credit for I don't even know what. Yeo will forever be remembered in the NHL community as the guy who got fired by a team languishing in far less than mediocrity which then had a miraculous turn around to win the Cup. What bigger black mark could there possibly be on his resume?

I don't know who will become available between now and then, thought Peter Laviolette would have been the perfect coach for them, but for shit sure Mike Yeo isn't the one they need to hire for anything more important than locker room attendant.

Find this part of that article funny
Obviously, the Flyers won't want to lose him; he has previous ties to Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher, who brought him on board in Philly.
No mention that Fletcher hired him as head coach for the Wild and the result was Fletcher firing him as head coach of the Wild before being canned himself.

While the Flyers had an amazing turnaround this season, Vigneault has done that before, and then, not been able to maintain it.

Mythologically probably. I thought it was a catchphrase from Clash of the Titans and thought Zeus said it, but I haven't seen it in years.

On one hand... I love the Kraken name. Lot of cool stuff they can do for marketing/promotions... shirts, etc. It's a win-win.
On the other hand... the Kraken loses in the storybooks.
So there's that.

I’m sure that Bettman will arrange another draft where Seattle can pillage a bunch of good to great players so that they’ll be Cup contenders for the foreseeable future just like Vegas.

Vegas did a better job of pillaging other teams draft picks while still acquiring quality players, than just relying on what the league offered. Heck, they already traded Nick Suzuki in what turned out to be a questionable deal. I don't see GMs falling for the crap Vegas pulled in their expansion draft. Since Dale Tallon is no longer employed, Seattle won't have him to fleece.

The NHL didn't do all this stuff - General Managers did.
The Buffalo Sabres traded their sixth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Vegas selecting William Carrier.[13]
The Florida Panthers traded Reilly Smith in exchange for Vegas selecting Jonathan Marchessault and a fourth-round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft.[14]
The Carolina Hurricanes traded Boston's fifth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft (previously acquired) in exchange for Vegas selecting Connor Brickley.[15]
The Winnipeg Jets traded their first-round pick (13th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft and a third-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Vegas selecting Chris Thorburn and Columbus' first-round pick (24th overall) in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft (previously acquired by Vegas).[16]
The Tampa Bay Lightning traded their second-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, Pittsburgh's fourth-round pick in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft (previously acquired) and Nikita Gusev in exchange for Vegas selecting Jason Garrison.[17]
The New York Islanders traded their first-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, a second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft, Mikhail Grabovski and Jake Bischoff in exchange for Vegas selecting Jean-Francois Berube.[18]
The Anaheim Ducks traded Shea Theodore in exchange for Vegas selecting Clayton Stoner.[19]
The Minnesota Wild traded Alex Tuch in exchange for Vegas selecting Erik Haula and a conditional third-round pick in the 2017 or 2018 NHL Entry Draft.[20]
The Columbus Blue Jackets traded their first-round pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, a second-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft and David Clarkson in exchange for Vegas selecting William Karlsson.[21]
The Pittsburgh Penguins traded their second-round pick in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft in exchange for Vegas selecting Marc-Andre Fleury.[22]
They acquired 2 additional first round picks in 2017 and moved one of them up 11 places (24th to 13th). The players they had to take on for that JF Berube, Chris Thorburn and William Karlsson.

Minnesota literally gave them Alex Tuch for selecting Erik Haula. Tuch is the kind of player Minnesota actually needs right now.
Anaheim gave them Shea Theodore for taking Clayton Stoner.

There were some seriously boneheaded moves made by GMs in the Vegas expansion draft that make it seem like the league set up Vegas for success. It wasn't the league. It was McPhee and McCrimmon fleecing the other GMs.
