What would you trade for Bobby Ryan?
Apparently he's being shopped by the 6-13-4 Ducks.

Tarasenko and Stewart/Berglund?
Keep in mind this is a hypothetical situation where we have an owner in place who's willing to add salary. Ryan's cap hit is $5.7 mil.

Make that an 'and', get rid of the '/' , throw in first or two and they may at least answer your phone call.joosforjihad wrote: Tarasenko and Stewart/Berglund?
We got Stewart for EJ and one could argue that if anything his value is down from then, Bergie has never proved anything, and not only is Tarasenko an unknown..you don't have any clue when or if he'll come over.
I don't think they would take all three of them for him (especially considering Stewart's contract situation). And I don't think we could afford to move all three of them.

I wouldn't give up that much. I might give up Stewart/Berglund and a different prospect though. If Tarasenko is as good as hyped, he should be pretty much untouchable unless there are fears that he won't be coming over from Russia (which doesn't seem to be a big fear).

2 first-rounders, Polak and a defensive prospect (Fairchild/Gannon/Ponich- NOT Cole). Ducks need D in a bad way.
This is pretty much the only trade I would be ok with Polak leaving.

Not too shabby. He looks more physical than Stewie. Blues would be sick if we could manage to not trade from the roster too much as suggested above.

I'm not crazy about 2 first rounders AND Polak, but I guess if we want to get a 24yo that has scored 30 goals 3 times already, we are going to have to give up a bunch.ProngerBlues44 wrote:2 first-rounders, Polak and a defensive prospect (Fairchild/Gannon/Ponich- NOT Cole). Do you think there's any chance we could get a couple of 2nd rounders back with everything else the same, similar to what we did with Colorado?

People sometimes don't think about the upside of Ryan - remember, if Sidney Crosby was fictional, Ryan would have been a clear-cut #1 draft pick.cardsfan04 wrote:I'm not crazy about 2 first rounders AND Polak, but I guess if we want to get a 24yo that has scored 30 goals 3 times already, we are going to have to give up a bunch.ProngerBlues44 wrote:2 first-rounders, Polak and a defensive prospect (Fairchild/Gannon/Ponich- NOT Cole). The guy has potential to be a 40-50 goal guy (IMO). It would suck giving up that much talent, but one of the things coming off a rebuild that has to happen at some point is giving up a lot of those guys you have been coveting to get even better talent.
I could see a 2nd round pick being included in that. So, you're saying something like this:
Blues get: Bobby Ryan, 2nd round pick in 2012
Ducks get: Roman Polak, defensive prospect, 1st round pick in 2012 & in 2013
Ducks get a solid defensive defenseman to play alongside Fowler and the Blues get their marquee guy.
I'll give it

Re: What would you trade for Bobby Ryan?
I'd do that. That does, in a way, kind of cap off the rebuild and puts us in a position to compete for cups for a good stretch. And to be able to keep Stewie and Bergy would be insanely awesome (if they can get it going sometime soon).ProngerBlues44 wrote:People sometimes don't think about the upside of Ryan - remember, if Sidney Crosby was fictional, Ryan would have been a clear-cut #1 draft pick.cardsfan04 wrote:I'm not crazy about 2 first rounders AND Polak, but I guess if we want to get a 24yo that has scored 30 goals 3 times already, we are going to have to give up a bunch.ProngerBlues44 wrote:2 first-rounders, Polak and a defensive prospect (Fairchild/Gannon/Ponich- NOT Cole). Re: What would you trade for Bobby Ryan?
you guys are nuts.
Ryan is awesome, but two first rounders, talent off your roster, and defensive depth for one player is just waaaay too much.
They would most likely want pie or shatt in any deal for Ryan, and that's a trade we aren't making (I hope).
We have offense, there will be more when we get healthy, and there is plenty of time towards the trade deadline to see what this team is really about.

If they asked for Pie or Shatty, I wouldn't even say no. I'd just hang up the phone.

And there is no guarantee Perron will be the Perron of old when he returns.

Re: What would you trade for Bobby Ryan?
No way I'd trade Stewart, Pollack, Pie or Shatt22. Bergie is a big maybe. Honestly, I'd prefer to wait and see what this team can do with Perron and MacD back. Maybe trade Colliacovo (when he gets healthy), Bergie and a 1st rounder. Anaheim would laugh me out of the room, but (Frank)'em, they're the team in need.
Re: What would you trade for Bobby Ryan?
I know you were half joking, but that is something we may be overlooking. Something we all need to consider is that the Ducks are very public right now that one of their three big forwards are on the move. That plays into the advantage for any team that takes a bite.tomcat16 wrote:Anaheim would laugh me out of the room, but (Frank)'em, they're the team in need.

Re: What would you trade for Bobby Ryan?
Yeah, that doesn't hurt. But, at the same time, that may increase the number of teams interested which would inherently drive the price up anyway. For a player like Bobby Ryan I imagine there will be enough suitors that the Ducks get fair value.ProngerBlues44 wrote:I know you were half joking, but that is something we may be overlooking. The fact that they want to dump him is totally in our favor - look at the pile of steaming crap we got in return for Chris Pronger.

No need to look. The stench of that pile of crap is still lingering even though the crap has been cleaned up and thrown out (to FLA mostly).not_a_wings_fan wrote:The fact that they want to dump him is totally in our favor - look at the pile of steaming crap we got in return for Chris Pronger.

Re: What would you trade for Bobby Ryan?
It's really not our style to jump out after any major cap hits. If anything, I think we'd nickle and dime them in the same way we got over the Avs for Stew and Shatts. I'm curious though, who would they have that we could use outside of their big paycheck names?
