Any interest in Blues acquiring Ryan Smyth?

I know his best days are behind him, but I've always liked his hard nose approach to the game. Could be a good leadership (Mellanby) type. Cost is a late round draft pick and a bad contract. Thoughts?

I think he'd be a great addition.

EDIT: I just looked up has salary. Holy hell is he overpaid.

I'd like to see the Blues go after someone who plays the same type of game as Sobotka, just a touch better of a player. I think we could use a 10-15 goal guy who can speed down the wing and get the puck to the net, so guys like Backes and Stewart can find the rebound and poke in loose pucks.

I feel that Smythe is a lesser version of Backes and Stewart. I don't think we need another one of those guys.

I'd like the see the Blues package Ben Bishop, Mark Cundari and a 2nd to Florida for their first and then draft Gabriel Landeskog and sign a UFA backup goalie. I bet Florida would do it too, A) because Bishop would probably step right into their #1 role and B) because Cundari would provide some offense on the blueline for them. If Florida demands a 3rd body, I'd offer up either another 2nd rounder or Drazenovic.

I see way more of the West Coast games on Center Ice and was always a big Smyth fan. Would loved to have seen him as a Blue if the right deal could have been made, but I'll be happy seeing him in Edmonton again with its crazy-ass goal horn.
