Kings, Leafs, Blues in that order.

I'm convinced the Blues will never hoist the cup, at least not until after I'm dead and gone.

I predict the Oilers will have another dynasty before the Blues win a single title.

Lots of top picks year after year? It's looking to catch up to them very quickly here within 3-5 seasons.

I also boldly predict (and hopefully incorrectly) that the Hawks will get another one within the next few years. For what their cap situation is, they did an unreal job of adding cheap depth (e.g. Ryan Johnson) and key guys at the deadline (Campoli & Frolik) to really get the team into a much, much better position to compete for a cup than I thought they would. Granted they barely made the playoffs but once they did... (okay they dropped three straight but anyone who watched those games will tell you that wasn't indicative of Chicago being totally outmatched) they fell into a comfort zone and got rolling and it was kinda scary. And they almost ousted the 'Nucks 3rd year in a row.

Seems like for a team to become a cup contender now is that they have to have 2 or 3 extremely bad seasons in a row and pick 1st overall at least once. The Blues got screwed on there 1st overall. Would have been nice to have gotten a forward 1st overall and gotten Petro the year we did. Maybe until we start sucking really bad, we will have the cup.

Sure we got screwed when we had the #1 overall, but I think the trade rectified that. Basically now it's like we picked Stewart and Shatenkirk.

Now if we only had and owner to get another forward and a defenseman like Hejda (152 hits and 158 blocked shots last year) this team will be ready to contend in a couple seasons if Halak comes around (if not, with Allen between the pipes)

A history of screwed up ownership, substantial money problems, decades of poor drafting, overpaying players, a past tendency to trade away our #1 picks, a seemingly cursed existence where bad luck seems to hit us more than most teams, great players leaving for one reason or another and winning cups elsewhere, asshats Mike Keenan & Pat Quinn, trading Joseph, trading Shanny, Bill Laurie abandoning the team, salary dumping Pronger for basically nothing, letting Hull walk for nothing, the Scott Stevens disaster that had repercussions for a decade, the Snipe hunt gone wrong, Gassoff's tragic death, Gilmour run out of town after falsely accused of sexual abuse against his babysitter, the year we had a real good team but traded Courtnall, Momesso, Dirk, & Ronning at the deadline for Butcher and Quinn...Ugh.

It's no surprise this team hasn't even gotten close, unless you count their first three years in the league where they were the best of the expansion teams and made the finals but going 0-12 in those finals games.
But that does say a lot about the fanbase here in St. Louis. We support the crap out of this team as long as ownership acts like they care. For some reason...I love this team. Go figure.

What this team needs more than anything, is stability in the front office.
We need a good ownership group to come in and stick with this team for 30 years.

I like where we are going and the foundation is here. Just need to get over the hump.

Another fun factoid: Only the Toronto Maple Leafs have gone longer than the Bluesers without appearing in the SC Finals.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_NH ... l_droughts

So they've been watching someone else take the prom queen to the dance for three years longer than we have, but at least they can take some shred of pride from the fact that the last year they DID make it, they won it--for the 13th time.

:sigh:
