It's a penalty...I guess. But I mean, if that's a penalty, then there should be 100 penalties in a game.

I don't think he was faking. There isn't any padding there and it was on the ribs...I'm sure it stung pretty good.
And I do think it was a penalty, but it was pretty weak. Like I said, if you call that, you have to call a hundred penalties a game. This one just got Holmstrom in the wrong spot and he was on the ice like he was shot.

What I was most livid about from last night's game was the bad play by Brewer that put Detroit up 2-1. Brewer was in the corner, and he went to pass the puck and handed it right to a Wings player, who passed to a Wing in front and they scored. Horrible, horrible play. It's mistakes like that, that Brewer makes ALL OF THE TIME, but you never hear the PBP guys talk about it...and even worse, Panger commented later how great a game Brewer was playing. What?

Though I want Holmstrom disfigured as much as the next fan, I don't know if raising the level of violence is going to win us any games. I would argue the Backes penalty led to the game winning goal and less than 5 minutes later the PPG against early in the third put it out of reach. Lidstrom has to be the oldest player ever to record his first career hat trick.

BTW I know everyone's a huge fan of Stempniak, but we won the shit out of that trade with Toronto. Think of how sunk we'd be w/o Steen and Colaiacovo...
