Wow, that was just lame.

I have been quite clear what direction I want the organization to take. No where have I ever altered my opinion that it would be better for this organization to finish the season strong than to shop everyone. I also have been consistent in my desire to trade Brewer regardless of what direction management takes.

Yes, you have made it very clear. Just like Curt has made it very clear....

BRING ON THE STREAK!!!!!!
I think you need to go back and read what I said.
It is obviously not clear to you on where I stand.

Why do you guys hate the Blues??? It make all the baby jesuses cry.

Sorry, I can barely stand reading any more of the bickering back and forth and have to assert my razor sharp wit.
People are like Slinkies. Not really good for much, but it's fun to watch them tumble down the stairs every once in a while.

Don't you know that you shouldn't try to make the playoffs unless you have the best recordl?

*cough* Pardon me for putting this thread back on topic... this will only take a minute...

we're at 46pts with 48 to go to get to 94...

34 games left to play.

1.41 pts per game to hit it...

for the shit of it, I calculated Philadelphia's stats and they could theorectically make the playoffs... they'd just have to win every game for the rest of the year to do it  but I thought it was good...

they're at 1.91 pts per game to hit 94...

Why should they re-sign old guys when there will be 28-year-old forwards available as unrestricted free agents this year?

I can't wait to see all of you jumping off this 'Cup Contender' bandwagon the first time the Blues go on a 3 - 5 game losing streak. How can you seriously say that the 4th to last place team, one that is not really even sniffing the playoffs right now, is a Cup contender. I understand the blue colored glasses, but wow.
Who has said the Blues were a Cup contender?
Curt, Boxcar, Misc Blues
As of right now, the Blues along with every team is statistically cup contenders. Plus, all I have said about selling/buying is given that they are close to the playoffs at the deadline, you know- when these trades really become a decision. Not to mention I favor selling at least some regardless of our position at the deadline.

If the Blues keep playing at this pace until the end of the season and make the playoffs are they not cup contenders?

That and on Jan 24th nobody gave those teams a chance to get to the finals.

The 8th seed may not need 93/94 points to clinch, but rather 91. If you look at the standings at a points per game ratio, you see that the eighth seed (Minnesota) is slightly above 1.10 and the Blues are at 0.958333. The Minnesota Wild project to have under 91 points, which would make the eighth seed due to the parity of the Northwest division. Which means that for the Blues to make the playoffs, they need 1.25 points per game, not a ridicufied 1.41.

1.25 pts. for the remaining 34 games would only give us 89 pts if you round up.
34 games x 1.25 = 42.5
42.5 + 46 = (88.5) or 89 pts.

Going 4-2-2 every 8 games for the rest of the season would put us right at 1.25 pts. per game and 89 pts.

I am going to stand firm on the 94 pt total to make the playoffs. Anything lower at this point is very questionable. 94 pts. should get us in unless some teams really turn it up, which is a possibility.

The Blues would have to average around a 6-2-1 or 6-2-2 record every 9 or 10 games to hit the 94 pt. mark.

That's going to be tough...but they are playing better than that now. So we'll see what happens.

We are 12-2-4 over our last 18 games. Which is a 1.56 pts. per game average.

There really isn't any room for any let downs. If we lose a couple games in a row, to make that up we'd have to go something like 6-0-1 or 6-0-2 to get back on pace.

The answer to this discussion should be more clear over the next 7 games. If we manage to tear through these next 7 games, which would bring us over .500 by the way, it would be ludicrous to break this team up unless a trade would bring us someone who can help us this year...say trade a Brewer for a scoring winger, for example.

However, if this stretch sends us into a tailspin, we might be 5 or 6 games or more below .500 and lost a lot of momentum, making a selling attitude that much more viable.

Chances are, management is on a 'wait-and-see' march right about now.

uh, i don't know about "ludicrous" - i seem to remember having well over 100 points, winning the president's trophy, and being bumped in the first round. getting to the playoffs guarantees nothing but 2 more home games, minimum. two more home games !> getting nothing in return for our UFAs.

Bucci, when talking about every team's chances on landing Foppa, wrote:If I was running a used stapler store, I would probably hire Dave Checketts and John Davidson to run it. They will make it work in St. Louis. I think the West's current top eight teams ultimately will be the top eight come April. I don't think St. Louis quite has enough. I would trade veteran assets instead of adding them. I'd get good draft position and acquire more young assets. Besides, the Blues will be aggressive in the free-agent market next summer.

No. However ... I'm going to be 90 years old soon, and even though I'll be old and tired, I still think that if I see the "dancing guy" from the Mighty Mighty Bosstones in a video, I'll remember everything I smelled in seventh grade. The dancing guy is named Ben. Although he didn't play an instrument or sing anything, the band let him dance around. He's probably 59 percent of the reason why I liked that band. Are you familiar with them? If not, download the song, "Wrong Thing, Right Then."
i have no idea wtf that means, lol.

so every time the Blues attempt for the playoffs now are you going to be shouting "start the new streak!"? or do you prefer to rebuild forever...
