Re: ROUND ONE : P1 Anaheim v WC1 Calgary

Brian Elliott 2017 playoffs: Flames are down 0-3 .887 save % (dead last) 3.67 GAA (dead last) This series has been very, very disappointing. Ells got shelled in the last ten minutes of Game 3 when the Flames got lacksadaisal and pretty much stopped playing. Flames have also been unable to stay out ...

Re: The Official Prospects Thread

If Bouwmeester and Lehtera aren't gone via expansion draft or trades this off-season, will the Blues buy them out? If they bought out Jay-Bo, his cap hit drops to 1.8M per season through the 20-21 season. Bringing up D on entry level deals (Walman) which aren't even 1M per makes cap space for other...

Re: The Official Prospects Thread

There isn't a way we can trade them with a pick as a cap dump or would we end up having to retain cap anyway? Who the hell would trade anything for Lehtera right now?? The Blues could try doing the trade thing, but who really wants guys not producing and being paid too much? Pause. Re-read my quest...

If I was Yak, I would look for a one year, two-way deal and volunteer for assignment to the Wolves and work with Berube. I see a lot of potential in Yak but he really needs to start back at square one and get what he hasn't learned bolted down. He always seems to be half-trained or maybe he works ha...

Re: The Official Prospects Thread

The article explains the Blues probably won't tender Binnington - a 23 year old RFA for the 2nd straight season. This would make Husso the clear #1 for the Wolves. Unless Binnington is willing to be paid as an AHL backup and accept that role, it might be time to move on from him. I don't know if th...

Re: GDT #75: 3/23/17 | 7:00 PM CDT | vs Coyotes | FSMW/KMOX

Turek played with MacInnis and Chris Frikken Pronger on a defensive juggernaut of a team in a defensive era. Elliott played part time duty on a team that was as defensively responsible as any team Turek played on with the Blues. Now this years team, not quite as defensively responsible until Yeo to...

4. Roman Turek is one of the record holders on there. I mean, Elliott's accomplishments to get his records were impressive. But, Turek being included should be reason to pause and consider how much weight we give to a record when looking at future performance. And, I say that as a guy that loves st...

30 wins for Jake Allen. Most by any Blues goalie in 7 years (Chris Mason). What? You mean Elliott never won 30 games in a season?? :aaaa: Correct me if I'm wrong here, but wasn't Chris Mason the last netminder to actually play a Starter's amount of games before the "Tandem Run"? If this is t...

Re: Goaltenders and future playoff performance

Exactly, glen. All context, not the limited context of just keeping Elliott and Allen together which was not a real serious option considering what Elliott was demanding. But let's ignore the context related to Elliott's individual demands, what's required in the upcoming expansion draft, Elliott's...

Re: Goaltenders and future playoff performance

Now, if he shoots .920-.940 and we lose in the first round So you are going to hold Allen to a standard Elliott managed once in his playoff career - last year at .921. That seems real generous of you. Elliot playoff SV% 09-10 .853 11-12 .904 12-13 .919 14-15 .857 15-16 .921 Sure glad there is absol...

Re: Goaltenders and future playoff performance

You are seriously counting the William Jennings trophy that was shared with Halak?? That's a reach. I'll take a Gold Medal MVP (individual award) in a tournament over a regular season shared award since this is about tournament style performance, right? How many tournament/playoff awards has Elliot...

Re: Goaltenders and future playoff performance

Where they differ is in the post season. Allen has NEVER had any success in the post season in any level of his career, look it up. He gets in, he chokes and it's over. People said that Elliott and Allen are a product of the Hitchcock System and what we're seeing is that both netminders succeed in ...

Outstanding game by Allen. I may be mistaken, but it seems like he's playing a little higher when facing shots off the RW than he was doing before Brodeur took over. His positioning and rebound control in this one was phenomenal. 1.80 GAA and .941 SV% since the coaching change (14 games) Good to se...

Flames now with a 10-game win streak, beating the Pens in the shootout. They are now 2nd in the Pacific Division. :aaaa: Can they keep it up though is the question. If they do, hate to be the team to meet them in the playoffs; they have it all together and want to win. Backlund is on record saying ...

Re: Random non-Blues NHL stuff

And the Lightning won again, putting them one point behind Toronto and tied with the Islanders who fell flat on their face in their return home against the Hurricanes. I have to compliment both the Coyotes and Hurricanes. Even though both are out of the playoffs, they don't play like they are out o...

Just because.... :) Since Feb 1 - following Blues coaching change... Name GP W L GAA SV% SO Allen 14 9 5 1.80 0.941 2 Elliott 15 12 2 1.93 0.935 2 Elliott had one no decision when he only played the 3rd period in a loss. In Allen's 5 losses, the Blues scored 7 goals total. Clearly this was due to n...
