Re: JR: Blues invite Darryl Sydor & Ryan Bayda to training camp
There's a rumour (from a Boston journalist) that The Blues have made a trade with Boston for Phil Kessel. If Pietrangelo or Colaiacovo are involved, Sydor may be insurance for added depth. Boston couldn't take Jackman, as they need to dump salary. More likely, however, it's Blues' management getting...

Re: Balsillie wants to move the Coyotes midseason???
Can this be the same man who earned billions of dollars? I'm beginning to think that he has NEVER intended to bring an NHL team to southern Ontario. I think he's just trying to become a "folk hero" in that area, so he can become an MP, and later, become Prime Minister. If he really wanted to become ...
Well, no one blinked. Versus has officially gone dark on DirecTV. The NHL's US cable home, along with its 5 or so Blues games, is gone. Of course, the bright side is that this keeps me from having to see Engblom's mullet.
They had a similar disagreement before. They got a de...
checking line predictions are up?
I can't see Winchester taking Cromben's place on the "shut down-checking line". He hasn't played defence all that well from what I've seen. I think he fits in better as a fill-in for injured forwards. I'd rather not have him on a scoring ...

Re: Rookies with a chance to make it out of camp?
Eller's shoulder is okay already. He's already been cleared for contact. He's a very talented offensive player, who also plays good defence and plays physically, too. The normal knock on flashy young forwards is that they are liabilities on defence. With that not a factor, I think Eller's offensive ...

Re: Great article on failed Canadian franchises
Winnipeg should get a team. They just need more local corporate support. The Canadian Dollar will swing from benefitting vs. US Dollar, to losing against it, over the long haul. But that shouldn't determine whether or not they can support an NHL team. Hamilton or Southern Ontario or a 2nd Toronto te...

Re: Brewer had knee surgery today?
It was only a minor scoping (probably to clear some painful debris). It will set back his training about 2 weeks. The better comfort might help his training a bit. I still see him returning in early January. If he can't play all season, his insurance will kick in after his 30th game out, and then pa...

Re: Blues sign Brendan Bell
A very good pick up. He's got a good shot, can skate, move the puck out of his zone, pass decently, oin the rush. The knock on him is that he doesn't play so consistently in his own zone. But, I think part of that may be due to Toronto's system. In any case, defensive positioning can be learned, and...

Re: Patrick Kane is a douche
He must have come from a family of cheapskates. He never heard of a TIP? He doesn't know that cabbies need to make a living? Even a lousy 10% tip would have been an extra $1.40.
Hey! Maybe the real story was that The Cabby locked the doors because The Kanes didn't offer a tip!

Re: WHY, EDDIE?! Belfour the Blues new goaltending consultant
Good move! Belfour will work with the young goalies in camp, AND (unlike Allain) , WILL also vist The Rivs in 5-7 day stints, regularly (and as needed) throughout the season. This will allow Wamsley to stay with The Blues ALL SEASON LONG. This will be much better coverage. Lots of help for unsure To...

Rivermen Website official roster needs update
What's the story with The Rivs' player roster on their website. It looks like last season's ending roster plus Blues rookie additions and oversees committed players added. Why are Filawich (Europe), Lehtera (Finland), Whitfield (left as UFA) and several others who left as UFAs still listed on the ro...

Re: Hellstrom suffers season ending injury
That's too bad. I was hoping to see him play a few games. But this type of injury shouldn't have any long term effect on him. He should be one of The Rivermen's most solid defencemen next season.

Much as I'd like to see it happen, The Blues won't even be able to pass Colorado, never mind passing Colorado AND Calgary. It's just a shame that current management wanted to give Kitchen a decent chance to show he could be a head coach on the NHL level. Had Murray started the season, The Blues woul...
Isn't Doug Weight going to be a UFA? If he could just sign with another team, I'm confused as to why he wasn't dealt? I like Doug Weight, but he needs to go. The way The Blues are playing under Murray, they may well be able to pass all the other current non-playoff position teams, and finish in 9th. I think they'll have trouble winning enough games to pass hot Minnesota, who now has its scoring forwards back. And they'd probably have to win 22 or 23 of 2...

I think that assuming 94 points will get us in is too optimistic. Minnesota is hot now, and will likely stay that way now that their scoring forwards are back. That may mean it will take more like 96 or, possibly even 97 points to capture 8th. The way the Blues looked in their last 3 games makes me ...

I think reality will be a mix of the two. The Blues will not want (nor be able to) trade off ALL their veterans. JD, Checketts and even Pleau are not irrational. They realise that they could lose their UFAs in the off season. They can't necessarily expect Guerin and Tkachuk (assuming waiving of NTC)...
