Re: Trades and Signings

I hate to be always-defending-the-front-office-guy, but this seems like something that is only a big deal because there is nothing else happening, but will actually end up being rather inconsequential. I'm sure Yeo had his hands on bringing him in. But, what is he, our 8th or 9th defensemen?

Blues Sign Parayko 5 years $5.5 mil AAV

Seems like a good deal for both sides.

Re: Trades and Signings

I wasn't surprised he want to NY, but I was a little surprised it was only 4 years. I still think he's a little overpaid, but I figured he'd get 7 years too. Premier FAs always get huge deals it seems.

Re: Trades and Signings

I know I'm taking you more literally than you probably intend, and an organization can certainly impact the way a player develops, no doubt. But, I don't think the difference between being an AHL guy and a valuable top 6 (or even top 9) guy is on the coach. When an organization prefers playing 4th ...

Re: Trades and Signings

... This year: Get younger, more talented, be faster. (2017 draft fits this mold, 1st two picks in 2016 fit this mold) followed by Sign completely unnecessary veteran grinder free agents. 4th liners can be pulled from the AHL. Why waste money on this? ... To play devil's advocate the best arguments...

Re: Trades and Signings

I keep reading how club-friendly the Shatty deal is. It is only 4 years which lowers the risk. But, I don't think I'd be happy going over $6 mil for him. I mean, in the sense that your value is what the market says it is, and it being likely that another team would have agreed to the same deal, I gu...

Re: Trades and Signings

Yak is the biggest bust? Really? With the crazy amount of hype and the quick paycheck, Daigle beats out Yak seven days a week. What about The Wick? One 50 point season doesn't make him one of the biggest busts? Yak, plugged in to a playmaking Center, is absolutely dangerous. He'll find a place, pro...

Re: The Drafts Thread

I need to research Kostin a little more, but the way I see people talk about him reminds me of Tarasenko. "He's a total steal if _____" type comments. I don't know what to think, but people could be saying much worse, so I'm starting to get a little excited on that basis alone.

Re: The Drafts Thread

This doesn't sound good. EDIT: Nevermind, Kostin would be a KHL UFA, not an NHL UFA which I guess would make it easier for him to sign with the Blues right away. https://twitter.com/A_Kalnins/status/880088841905987584 https://twitter.com/A_Kalnins/status/880088928933613569 https://twitter.com/A_Kaln...

I feel ya man. Just didn't want you to think I was trying to nitpick you. Your point about getting the pick back is valid, so it's kinda like we gave up a conditional 1st and a late 2nd which is way different than 2 1sts.

But I don't care. Lehtera is GONE!!!!

Re: The Drafts Thread

Did they really lose two first round picks, though? They got one back, so the pick they traded, 27, became 31. They still had 2 picks in the 1st round this season and only lost one down the road, whether it's next season or 2019. If it's 2019, though, they do lose a 3rd next year, also. I'm not con...

Re: The Drafts Thread

I think I like the trades from last night. I've been saying since the season ended that we need to trade from a surplus (picks) for a deficiency (top 6 forwards). So, this was the kind of thing I wanted to see. It also takes care of the Lehtera problem. Schenn wasn't really on my radar though and 2 ...

Re: Random non-Blues NHL stuff

I had a similar thought about us trading up and it not working out. I heard we are looking to move up in the draft, and I just hope that's the right move if we do so. I'd rather package picks for a Drouin/Johnson type than for a higher pick.

Re: Random non-Blues NHL stuff

Hossa won't be with the Blackhawks this year. He's not retiring, but going on LTIR with a skin allergy caused by his equipment. He played through 8 years of his 12-year contract and has been paid $59.3 million of the $63.3 million. The Blackhawks don't get penalized for a cap-avoiding contract unles...

Wow, the Islanders gave up a fortune to protect some guys that didn't even put up 50 points last year.

Re: The Drafts Thread

Apparently Pittsburgh is sending a pick to LV to make sure they take Fleury. I get that they have cap issues. But, couldn't they find a team that would give them something in a trade instead of giving up a pick themselves? Maybe Arizona, who just traded Smith, would give them a 5th rounder or someth...

Minor Blues Notes (Home Opener and Jersey Reveal)

New Jerseys: https://twitter.com/StLouisBlues/status/877580429657686016 Can't really tell from the tweet, but the inner collar is now similar to the St. Louis flag which is a nice touch. Home Opener: The forced storyline of all forced storylines, it's against the Stars (and Hitchcock). https://twitt...
