Re: Golden Knights jersey reveal

Looks decent. Certainly not an abomination. The red stripe on the sleeves feels out of place though. I like the V on the helmet on the front of the jersey. It almost feels too simple, but they did ok.

Re: Vegas trades won't be announced until June 21

I don't really understand these "we'll give you a 1st round pick to not take our 9th best player" type deals. Take the Islanders, for example. Seems that Brock Nelson, Ryan Strome, and Calvin de Haan are the 3 unprotected players that the Islanders want to protect. I don't follow them closely, so if...

Re: The Drafts Thread

I saw the Stastny idea on Puck Daddy too, but I think it's a bad idea. Stastny is overpaid, but we are really dependent on him right now. We don't have anybody to fill his shoes. We have some intriguing centers in our system right now, but none of them will be ready to replace Stastny this year. So,...

Re: The Drafts Thread

Unless there's a deal in place, I'd be shocked if they don't take Perron.

I mentioned it in another thread, I am opposed to giving up a 1st round pick to lose Lehtera. I'd give up something, but a 1st round pick is a lot to shed 1 year of a bad contract.

The Drafts Thread

Expansion and Entry Drafts are coming up, so figured we could use a thread for them. Blues protected list isn't very surprising. Only thing noteworthy is that Perron was left unprotected. https://twitter.com/jprutherford/status/876447872459431936 https://twitter.com/jprutherford/status/8764482513224...

Re: Vegas trades won't be announced until June 21

Word on the street is that Vegas has secured, via trade, at least 3 1st round picks in total. I hope like hell one of those is us giving them the 27th in exchange for them taking Lehtera off our hands. I heard that too about LV having 3 1st round picks already. Lehtera only has 1 year left on his c...

Which is bad for us. I think Elliott staying more than 1 season was a condition for a pick in the trade.

Re: Random non-Blues NHL stuff

I don't know anything about Sergachev, so I'm not sure what our equivalent is. A player I know nothing about plus a conditional 2nd rounder seems like something I would have liked to have matched though. Drouin would be a great fit here, on the ice anyway. Not sure what to make of him in a locker ro...

Re: Random non-Blues NHL stuff

Drouin traded to Habs.

Habs get Drouin + conditional 6th round pick
Lightning get Sergachev + conditional 2nd round pick

Re: STANLEY CUP FINAL : Pittsburgh v Nashville

Am I the only one here ~rooting for Nashville? I've gotten a bit sick of seeing Pittsburgh win and don't really care for Crosby much anymore.

Nashville getting a Cup before us would be pretty sucky though.

Re: 2016-17 Post-Mortem

I had the same thought on Sydor. While I don't know a ton about his coaching ability, it seems like he must have done something right this past year in Chicago. If we're going to discredit him for his time in Minnesota (which I don't recall being a disaster, just ended poorly for Yeo), shouldn't we ...

Re: 2016-17 Post-Mortem

I don't see the big deal in the Steve Ott hire. He wasn't great here as a player, but he isn't returning as a player. He's returning as a third assistant. This isn't an obviously bad hire to me like it is to some of you, but even if it is, this is such a low impact move (in either direction) that I ...

Re: Vegas Golden Knights expansion outlook: St. Louis Blues

I'm in the protect Sobotka/Perron crowd. I think it's pretty clear cut tbh. Protect Sobotka because he looked great in his return. Protect Perron because we're not going to protect Brodziak, Yakupov, Jaskin or some other 4th liner over him.

Re: WESTERN CONFERENCE FINAL Anaheim v Nashville

I caught the 3rd period and OT last night after the cards game. I don't usually cheer for the team that knocks us out, but caught myself hoping Nashville won. I guess that's who I'm rooting for the rest of the way.

Re: 2016-17 Post-Mortem

The reason I've called it a transition is less about the amount of roster turnover than (my perceived) change of direction of the team. For several years there was talk of having two cores. There was the Backes/Steen, etc. veteran core. Then, there was the core of younger guys like Tarasenko, Schwa...

Re: 2016-17 Post-Mortem

If anyone hears any Blues fan try to repeat the "transition" word Armstrong tried to claim this season was, ask them: 1) How many defenseman were transitioned from 15-16 to 16-17? The answer is none. The Blues had the same defensive corps until they traded Shattenkirk at the 16-17 trade deadline. T...

Re: 2016-17 Post-Mortem

Doesn't have to be exactly Tavares. His name has been out there in trade rumors the past few years, so that's who I went with. I did read that the Islanders are offering him an 8 year extension though, so he might have been a bad exmaple. There are other young forwards that would fit this mold thou...

Re: 2016-17 Post-Mortem

I wouldn't mind having Oshie back. There's a reason he was a fan favorite. But, I don't see it happening. Defensive coach is part of it I guess, but more than that, I don't think he's worth what he'll get paid. He's going to get paid as a 30G scorer even though the only time he has done it is a cont...

Re: 2016-17 Post-Mortem

I'm not sure how not to be disappointed right now. When playoffs started, I was hopeful that we'd win a series, but thought Blackhawks would stomp us. When Nashville beat them, and we had just beat Nashville out for 3rd in the division, I was expecting another WCF appearance. That said, of the 16 pl...
