Re: Free Agent Moves and Major Trades
Backes and Brouwer gone. Neither a surprise and probably good fiscal moves for the Blues. Perron back? Interesting. Didn't figure he was a hitch sort of guy. allen extended. New cap hit kicks in next season right? From what I understand, you are right. He has 1 year left on his current deal, then t...

Re: Free Agent Moves and Major Trades
https://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/status/748911220640641024 Perron I'm guessing replaces Brouwer. Similar to Brouwer's cap hit last year...clearly they don't play the same type of game but points-wise, they offer about the same amount (around the 40 point range) and can work on the PP. Perron won'...

Re: Free Agent Moves and Major Trades
Does anyone understand the Subban for Weber trade? Both are top defenders, highly paid. I don't get the trade-off - each team gets a great player but loses one in the process so what's the gain? Unless this was a trade just for scenery changes for both players. Apparently you can't be charitable on...

Re: Free Agent Moves and Major Trades
I forsee Shatt being shipped off for picks and Army stacking picks for a possible rebuild. I actually see our window starting to close as I sit here. I don't at all. Tarasenko and Schwartz are what? 24? Fabbri is 20 (Franking) years old. Parayko is 22 or 23. Edmundson around the same age. Jake Alle...

Re: Free Agent Moves and Major Trades
They aren't Blues moves but Taylor Hall to NJ for Adam Larsson and then PK Subban to Nash for Shea Weber.
What an afternoon. So the rumor is that Edmonton didn't want to pull the trigger on a Taylor Hall for Shatty deal, but they trade him for Adam Larsson? Hmmm.

Re: Free Agent Moves and Major Trades
Heard we're in on the Kyle Okposo sweepstakes. I'd love to see him in the note, but there seems to be so much interest that he'll get the contract he wants and that prices us out. What numbers are you hearing that he is looking for? I've not seen any numbers reported, just the the Blues and about 4...

Re: Conner Bleackley - who knows the story?
This could go two ways: 1) He could keep up with his unmotivated, aloof ways and just became a wasted 5th round pick that fades out of hockey. Like cardsfan said, it's a 5th round pick. Taking a gamble is worth it even if it doesn't pan out. Or 2) All of this could put a chip on his shoulder and giv...

Ells isn't signed for 3 years, he's a UFA next summer. He'll be due a raise.Oaklandblue wrote:(We traded an elite goalie making 2.5 a year for the next three years for picks... )

Felt like Ells deserved his own thread. Honestly, this one stings a bit.

Re: AP: Las Vegas expansion is 'done deal'
Apperently they sold some 14,000 season tickets. That can't be full 41 game packages, though? Curious how they counted those numbers. I expect them to be full for first half of the year then just go down from there... The other thing we have to remember is that the NHL is the first (and only) pro g...

Off-topic: What recent success for the Jags are you referring to? The playoffs twice since 2000 and then sucking hind tit since 2007? Both the Rams and Jags have won 39 games since the Jags last playoff appearance in 2007. Jaguars have been as bad as the Rams, but Khan is actually trying to improve...

Re: Mike Yeo - Blues future head coach.
Doug Armstrong is so terrible. Under his regime, the Blues have drafted Tarasenko, Schwartz, Parayko, Fabbri, Jake Allen. They signed Brian Elliott on a 2 way deal and have had him on cheap contracts ever since while getting the best value out of a goalie in the NHL over that time. Under Armstrong, ...
