Re: Scoreboard Watching

Nashville has the lead, but it's not absolute as we have enough games in hand to catch them.

They own the tie breakers right now, so would need to pass them.

Re: Blues trade Joakim Lindstrom/cond pick for Olli Jokinen

Lets just be honest... they didn't want ott to be the oldest guy on the team anymore, that's why this was done. (I know, Jackman is actually older... but you can't really tell by looking at them) And I found this picture of what Olli looks like now: http://i.ytimg.com/vi/apmir1AURIE/hqdefault.jpg

Re: Trade Deadline Watching

He had a bunch of fighting majors in the minor leagues, so he's no stranger to dropping the gloves. Not going to be a heavy weight champ, but better than what we have in the physical department.

I don't understand how we could be so down on cole when other teams seems to see a great deal more.

Re: Trade Deadline Watching

From ESPN's live deadline chat (my emphasis added): Lou - So tough. The team that wins the deadline doesn't always win in the playoffs. So in the East, I'd go with either Boston or Tampa. But it's wide open. To me, the winner of the Blues/Blackhawks series wins the West . I don' t know why people a...

Re: Trade Deadline Watching

And it may not all be done... stuff that is sent to the league at the final bell can take several minutes to be processed. We will see in an hour or so what shakes out in the end.

As it stands, I am almost certain this team is over the cap without outright releasing players.

Cory

Can anyone give me a good reason why the Blues picked up Jokinen.

scottdburnside
Cory; Well, there's, uhm, or it could be that, no, that's not it. Sorry. With Craig on this. Nope.

Only thing I can think of is that he played with Nashville this year and maybe has insider information we want?

They are about 10 years late getting this guy... he was scoring more goals than any of our current forwards back then...but not so much now, lol.

Re: Trade Deadline Watching

If the Blues are done, I think I'll be a tad disappointed. Surely they aren't done. I don't think we're done. The Cole trade also opened up some cap space. Berglund + Lindbohm for ???? I dunno, seems odd to have 9 DMen if you don't have another move in mind. I say that, and then the Jokinen trade i...

Re: Trade Deadline Watching

I'd take stewie for bergs straight up, honestly. I don't like the guy, but being back putting with a quality centerman and a chance to play meaningful games may be the motivation he needs. He's got to be more offensive punch than Bergs has been this year, doesn't he? And around the league it seems l...

Re: Blues acquire Zbynek Michalek/pick for Maxim Letunov

And we are NOT over the cap if they eat 50% of his salary. We are only on the hook for the pro-rated portion of the deal...what's left to pay him. There is approximately 25% of the season left, and they are eating 50% of that remaining ~1 million, which means we are getting a rental at about 500k fo...

Re: Trade Deadline Watching

And there's still more rumors that sharp and Crawford got into the fight, allegedly because Crawford ratted sharp out for having a thing with a puckbunny. I can believe that more than I can the other stuff. This makes the locker room issues about more than just sharp's conduct but also about breakin...
