Re: Schwarz leads Aces to 1st round sweep of defending champs!!

Schwarz had a 1.82 goals-against average and a save percentage of 95 percent. If Schwarz had had those numbers in Peoria it would have been all fun there too .....and the Rivs might have been in the AHL play-offs. I like Schwarz. Liked him better then Toivy anyway. The two will be fighting it out f...

Re: Rivermen Eliminated from Playoffs

I see they are sending Toivonen down. I wonder if HE can let in less then 5 goals a game? http://www2.pjstar.com/index.php?/eminian/ He better be picking up on the hot spots in Peoria while he's there. It's either going to be him or Schwarz backing up Bishop next season in Peoria. http://www.stltoda...

Rivermen Eliminated from Playoffs

Despite a MUST WIN weekend, the Peoria Rivermen manages to lose to Iowa 5-3, Chicago 6-4, and Houston 5-0 to be eliminated from a playoff berth ...although I think elimination started back in February when the Rivermen managed to eek out only 1 win for the month. With 4 games left in the season it w...

AHL levels Stastny with 4 game suspension

Cleve's World Peoria Rivermen Dave Eminian / Journal Star AHL nails Stastny The Rivermen were bracing for this. The Houston Aeros were furious over the hit delivered by Yan Stasty to Aeros winger Ryan Hamilton in a game in Texas last week. Hamilton returned later in the game to play. But Houston tu...

Re: Can we get a Big Ben thread going?

BISHOP IN CHECK? Rivermen rookie goaltender Ben Bishop has had health questions late in the season in the past. He suffered a groin strain at University of Maine in 2006-07 that plagued him down the stretch. Last summer, he had surgery on his knee to repair torn a meniscus. He's day-to-day now for ...

Re: It's official - Rivermen are good this year (corrected)

Last night was just sad to listen to...that's for sure. Kariya, Trudel, DuPont....all with ZERO SOGs in the first 50 minutes of the game. Wagner hurt in the 3rd again (shot off foot) Polak sounded like he played for crap. Bishop out. Stick a fork in 'em....they're done. http://pjstar.com/stories/033...

Re: Can we get a Big Ben thread going?

Rivs started playing 4 games on the road tonight. Ben saw his 1st shoot-out vs Houston tonight losing 3-2. (saved 3 out of 4). Out of 4 games he has played so far... only the 2 games this past weekend have been at home. Here is what I'm noticing.. (his first game notwithstanding). The last 3 games h...

NP. I only hope the partial "local" ownership pans out. If not...I got a gut feeling that you'll be getting your hocky fix in Bloomington in another two years.

Re: Talbot rewarded with a two-year NHL contract soon.

Time will tell...that's for sure. I can see him coming in to camp this fall ready to prove that the Blues didnt make a mistake. Look for him to be one of the last cuts going to Peoria. Might even get a few games in at the start of the season in StLouis. Good luck to him...but wouldnt mind him having...

Re: Talbot rewarded with a two-year NHL contract soon.

Here's what an archived article from the PJStar had to say..... PEORIA - JulianTalbot was supposed to be a call-up for the Peoria Rivermen this season, a fill-in center for an AHL powerhouse loaded with experience and skill at forward. Then the parent club St. Louis Blues made him a call - literally...

Field horse or franchise on the rise? Dave Eminian Sports Tuesday, March 18, 2008 There are dark clouds hovering over the Peoria Rivermen playoff picture these days. But one of the silver linings to the 2007-08 season has been rookie center-left wing Julian Talbot, who has notched 20 goals and emer...

You read it here first, folks. Thanks majikle, for getting this info out. Hey...all we knew was that Hellstrom's wrist was (for some reason) in a cast. I knew you was always asking about him so PMd you with the information. You were the one that managed to track down the reason. I find the scenerio...

Re: Nikolai Lemtyugov?

WEAPONOLOGY: Nikolay Lemtyugov is emerging as a real offensive weapon. Put him in a shootout, and he'll leave the goaltender flopping on the ice with an array of moves. Let him near your net, and he'll torture defensemen who don't know whether to defend his shot or pass skills. Power play need a ju...
