Re: Blues Trade Deadline Thread

That must be the cost of acquiring talent from Buffalo after the ROR trade.

Re: Blues Trade Deadline Thread

Faulk definitely hasn't done what I expected. He was too consistent in Carolina for too long for me to think this is his new normal, but i'm not really sure where he goes from here. If they were going to trade him, now would be the only time a team might consider his effort here as a blip and be wil...

Re: Tarasenko Signed!!!! 8/$60MM

My hope is they find some poor team willing to take on Steve Ott's contract.

Something like Steve Ott and a 6th round pick to Phoenix in return for a bag of peanuts.

Re: Paajarvi on waivers

Not surprised. Berglund mk II; never room for him with the Blues. Deal was a dump. Considering how poorly Perron has played the Oilers would probably have been better off just keeping Paajarvi. Perron has put up a 0.63 ppg pace for Edmondon while being terrible on defense. Paajarvi was doing someth...

Re: Thoughts on Ryan Miller?

The thought of losing two 1st round picks for Miller and Ott makes me a little nauseated now. I still think he is a big improvement over Halak (complete headcase of the Legace variety), but now that we have a more battle proven goalie, it's becoming more and more clear that it wasn't our actual pro...

Thoughts on Ryan Miller?

Now that we've had him for a decent strech of games, what is your opinion on Miller? Was he worth the trade? Is he a solid upgrade over Halak?

Re: Perron: 1G, First Star in first preseason game with the

Even if Perron ends up scoring 30 goals and 70 points it'll still be a solid trade in my book. I don't believe he was ever going to do that here in St. Louis. Not only was the system not set up for that, we don't have the type of players that compliment his style of play. Both the system and the pla...

Re: Bouwmeester to STL

Something is definitely going to have to give if the Blues aren't hitting the cap. I'll go down the list: McDonald - He's been injured a lot, is hitting his mid-30s, and isn't as good as when he signed the last contract. I see him getting 2.5m tops from the Blues and most likely not being resigned. ...

And hasek's equipment from then seems tiny today:

I remember thinking Hasek having a .930 save percentage was insane and just blew my mind. I remember having a .880 save percentage in roller hockey and thinking I wasn't too terrible.

Teams left in the playoffs: New Jersey - 11th in Goals (and the most boring 11th in goals i've ever seen) NY Rangers - 13th in Goals Washington - 15th in Goals Phoenix... - 17th in Goals Los Angeles- 29th in Goals Goals Against: Los Angeles - 2nd in Goals Against NY Rangers - 3rd in Goals Against Ph...

Re: Off Season Roster Change Suggestions

I think the Blues need to stick to the concept of big strong forwards with solid fore-check and defense-first attitude. Small players that play-big like McDonald,Oshie,Perron, etc. are great in the regular season. They just can't keep up over the course of a long-season when they're all you have for...

Re: Rd. 1 Playoff Series Thread: #4 Penguins vs. #5 Flyers

What I was really surprised by was how terrible the Penguins played defense. Fluery was sucking and let in a few soft ones, but giving up 20 goals in 3 games is horrific. I watched some highlights of game 3 and the position/shots that Pittsburgh was giving up was crazy. A big reason for Halak/Elliot...

Re: Elliott signed to 2 year extension

Halak's cap hit is 3.7 and Elliots is 1.8. Combined that 5.5m cap hit is still pretty low, it'd make them 14th in the league in overall Goalie cap hit, when they're 15th this season). Both players have had their best years when limited to 40-50 games. So if limiting both players games gives them the...
