Re: Rivs playoff thread

Game 3 loss 2-1 on Saturday night. Corey Locke scores two on the Power Play. Regier gets one called off late in the second. Again another smothering Defensive game. Houston goes up 2-1 in the series.

Re: Rivs playoff thread

Rivs 2-0 loss to even the series 1 apiece. Legace really played great tonight. First two periods were up tempo defensive minded periods. 28 shots total for both teams. Junland didn't cover his backside and a pass was kicked to the slot on a 2 on 2 rush and Junland didn't have position for the first ...

Rivs playoff thread

May not get many responses. But hey it's worth noting. Rivs hold on for a 6-4 win. Houston scores 3 in the third but Legace held on with 27 saves and Yan Stasny who played great scores twice along Paddock, Regier, Danny Richmond (late season trade with WBS for Wosnewski) and Talbot I believe. Plenty...

Re: New broadcaster working tonight in Peoria?

CLOWN PRINCE OF PUCK: Remember Max Patkin, the Clown Prince of Baseball? Well, the Rivermen hit one out of the park over the weekend when they booked a broadcast comedy act, Ashley Scharge, and had him do play-by-play for their home games Friday and Saturday. Regular Rivermen radio voice Brendan Bu...

Re: New broadcaster working tonight in Peoria?

Not sure what is going on. Brendan Burke is a solid play by play guy for a very young guy. It has to be politics for SCP to be auditioning someone else. Nobody can replace Norm Ulrich the voice of the Rivermen. Last season Tom Calhahon attempted. He did get promoted to Nashville Predators radio feed...

Re: Legace?

With two very key games this Saturday (chicago) and Sunday (rockford) I hope we can provide some offense for Legace. He is almost certain to go back to back this weekend. With Wagner coming back it should help the D too.

Re: Legace?

Legace shuts down the Rampage last night 5-0. The Rivermen snapped their home losing streak and Charles Linglet gets traded to AHL Springfield.

Re: Legace?

Legace has looked great in both of his outings. We are playing with an extremely young Defense coupled with a lack of consistency from our wingers has led to tough times in Peoria. Talbot and Linglet are due to step up their games. Legace seems to have a good attitude while on the ice. He has been v...

Re: Hellstrom sent to Alaska

You are correct. He hasn't been able to find himself over here. Injuries have prevented him from getting in the flow. I think he is to soft and not physical enough for the AHL. I suspect this is to catch his attention and hopefully he realizes that it's time for some return on the investment.

Re: Future of the Rivermen?

And for the record, KC has the inside track to be the next home of the franchise. Big, new, spacious, EMPTY building in need of a high-level team. With no NHL options, the AHL is obviously the next choice as far as KC is concerned. Since this is your second post....Do you have any facts on the "ins...

Re: Future of the Rivermen?

keep in mind they will want to stay in the midwest to cut travel and stay within 3-5 hours of St. Louis. They also want to align with the conference and stay close by.

Future of the Rivermen?

The Peoria Rivermen are in their last year of their lease at the Peoria Civic Center. It is a known fact in the Peoria area that the Civic Center treats the Rivermen and most tenants like crap. Peoria's faithful still come out and enjoy the AHLer's compete for a shot at the NHL level. But attendence...

Re: Rivs loose President over ownership change

Bart was concerned that the front office staff would eventually be replaced. I don't know for sure...But I would bet knowing how genuine of a man Mr. Sauers is he had a clause that kept employees along for a number of months. If you noticed the other co-owner Anne Griffin left upon sale. Although no...

Re: Rivs loose President over ownership change

Look..IMO this isn't a huge loss. Mr Sauers spent loads of money on an outside agency to tell Bart and the rest of the crew how to turn the fan base around. Bart went to work in Bloomington for Peoria's two best employees in Nelson and Butler. Those two groomed Bart for the position he held with the...

Re: FIRED: Rivermen coach Baseggio

The Rivermen signed guys like Trent Whitfield and Jean Guy Trudel and Alex Brooks to bring in heart and character for the young prospects. These are the same guys that behind closed doors will tell you which of the prospects or draft picks will pan out in the system and which already act like they s...

Re: Rivermen Sale Imminent?

It hasn't been a secret that the ownership needs to move on. If it wasn't for Mr. Sauers this team wouldn't of played here this year. Bloomington begged them to come over. At the tender age of 81 he needs to move on. His heart and pride is in Peoria. There are several problems with Peoria Hockey in ...

Re: FIRED: Rivermen coach Baseggio

Payne certainly has the credentials. I would still give Asst. Coach Brent Thompson the nod. He has the fire and discipline that these young underachieving prospects need. He has had his time in the NHL and has long been a mentor to prospects as a AHLer.... He needs a look IMO

Re: Hellstrom suffers season ending injury

I am certainly not Coach Bags. But if you look at the past Euro prospects playing in the AHL anything short of positive reinforcement from the coaches in the press could send the kids packin' for home. He certainly has potential. I am just saying that he needs another 1/2 to full year in the AHL to ...
