The cap is set to go up drastically in the next few years.
They won't have cap problems, but they might have money problems.

Re: 2014 Expansion
I'm still a little confused though. I'm not sure if they have to protect the young guys. Like, do you have to protect Ty Rattie who has never played a game in the NHL? What about someone like Jaskins, who has played a few games? Do you have to protect Allen if he is on a one-way contract?

Re: 2014 Expansion
26 of the 28 teams existing in the league at the time of the draft were each allowed to protect either one goaltender, five defensemen, and nine forwards or two goaltenders, three defensemen, and seven forwards. The Atlanta Thrashers and Nashville Predators had their entire rosters protected, as th...

The Blues will get savaged by the expansion draft as well. It won't be pretty.

Does Steen really count as a Swede?
As much as I would like to see Oshie in, I don't think he cracks the lineup.

Re: Blues Schedule Released
Wow, look at all those games. And after last season, that is not a complement. What a slog. Yeah, while I didn't like the compressed nature of the season, I liked the amount of games. I really think the NHL plays way too many games. I would like to see them play about half what they do now. It's ne...

Re: Blues Schedule Released
The only time Detroit is in town is the last game of the year... which could be super important, but probably will be a boring formality, which pretty much sucks.

I don't think you can get creative with the cap numbers. The cap hit is an average of your salary, isn't it?

Re: Ty Conklin Named Goalie Development Coach
Wasn't Conklin the one who was absolutely atrocious on shootouts? Or was that someone else?

Don't the NHL and the KHL have some sort of transfer agreement? How can he do this?

Re: Hockey Just Got a Bit Shittier.. Mandatory Visors
I mean, why have them wear helmets? Or shoulder pads? Why not just have them in speedos and ice skates. Surely some for of safety gear is necessary. The debate is where to draw the line. Visors help protect players. I don't see what the big deal is. 80% of them wear visors anyway. I agree that it's ...

Re: Hockey Just Got a Bit Shittier.. Mandatory Visors
Most of the fights these days are just staged bouts between two designated "fighters". While I do enjoy these for what they are, it's not really a big loss to see these go away. Something like 80% of players wear visors anyway. I don't have a problem with this at all. Because, you know what else mak...

Re: Lets fire erryone and hire a gigantic asshole!!
It would certainly be different for him. I can see the post-game press conference after the Blues lose in the first round again next year. Torts, after this loss, we want to know... who do you think is dreamier... the rugged manliness of Backes or the Boyish charm of Oshie? Torts, you lost the serie...

St. Louis is old as hell and has a no-trade.
I also seem to remember him saying he did not want to go anywhere else.

Re: Series thread : Chicago v Detroit : Round Two
We would be playing San Jose right now. A tough but winnable series. I've been saying it for a while, but I really truly believe that at least 50% of hockey is just dumb luck. Anyway, while I hate Detroit with the white hot intensity of a thousand suns... I'm really enjoying watching Chicago step on...

It didn't look bogus to me.
It's true they were handed the game on a silver platter, but they still had to finish.
The Blues would have botched it.
