Seems like a good deal for both sides.

Great job retaining 3 mil in cap space. Use it on Jagr, seriously.

I'm thrilled Army didn't blow it and end up losing Parayko.

My first thought was that it was a little steep, but if he keeps performing to the level he's shown he can, it's actually a pretty good deal for a defenseman of his capability.

More than 1M less per season than Shattenkirk for a better overall defenseman... good. So what if #55 was an RFA. It's a changing world in the NHL when quality players like Parayko hit their first non-ELC contract. Drouin got a similar deal in AAV from the Canadiens, just for a 1 year longer team, being a talented RFA.

Parayko still hits UFA status at 29. Bonus for him.

Good deal for both sides.

OK, so it took me a bit to finally see what the Blues did here.

5 years, $5.5 mil for #55. Clever.

Obviously I am not.

I think it's a great contract. He clearly wanted term and in order to get it had to come down on price a bit (I'm speculating). This could end up being a really, really good contract down the road.

For all the flak Armstrong gets he has been largely spectacular at re-signing our key guys to very manageable/friendly contracts (Tarasenko, Pietrangelo, Parayko) even Steen isn't bad.

5.5 mil seems like a steal.

This is about what I thought he would get...and the length too.
He'll hit FA when he can cash in big time. At age 29, that's typically when elite defensemen will be entering their prime.
$5.5 million is a bargain for him. He should be in the norris trophy discussion soon, compared to players making 3 or 4 million more per season.
